Amuse-Gueules AKA Finger Food Sandwiches

amuse-gueules AKA Finger Food SandwichesI love entertaining and when I do have friends over, I prefer not to serve dinner. That sounds odd right. Have you ever noticed that when you serve dinner, you are stuck talking to only the people you sit next to? I hate ow restrictive that is. I prefer to have 8-12 different hors d’ oeuvres that I bring out throughout the night so everyone can snack, drink and stay immersed in conversation. No one ever goes hungry at my parties! A rule of thumb, for every 3-4 savory treats, bring out one sweet.

The French refer to this as an amuse-bouche [aˌmyzˈbuʃ] (plural amuse-bouches) or amuse-gueule [aˌmyzˈɡœl] is a single, bite-sized hors d’œuvre.

This makes 20 pieces

Ingredients
1 large sesame seed baguette, cut into 20 pieces
20 pieces of thinly cut salami, pepperoni or your preferred cut of meet
1/4 cup hummus
Top with any of the following: parsley for color, sliced black olives, sliced red bell peppers

Directions
Toast the baguettes and place a piece of pepperoni on each piece and bend the meat to make it look more appealing. Put the hummus on top of a folded slice or in-between the fold to give it character.

Top with a teaspoonful of hummus. You can top this with sliced olives, red bell peppers or just s small sprig of parsley for color.
